In part one we started to look at some useful car shipping tips and how to be prepared for the delivery of your car. In part 2 of this blog post we want to look at a couple more things to keep in mind.
Have Your Drivers License Ready
The license you have currently will not be good enough. You have to make sure that you have an International Driver’s License. This can be obtained through the AAA Automobile Association. If you are traveling to Europe though, you will be glad to know that your American driver’s license will do just fine. You will also be glad to know that you can drive around with your American plates in the foreign country until they expire. Once your plates are expired you will be able to renew them with plates for the country you are in.
Must You Be Present For the Delivery of Your Vehicle?
If you are shipping by RORO then yes, you have to be there in order to get your car. There are of course situations where the vehicle owner is unable to personally be there. When this happens, you can have an authorized adult to act as your representative. This person will have the authority to accept the delivery of your car as long as the destination agent has the name of your representative on file.
Once you find that you are completely prepared for the shipping and the delivery of your vehicle, you can get the ball rolling. Just make sure that you have all of your facts straight so that there are no problems getting your car to its destination, or picking it up, and you will be fine.
