AUSTRIA IMPORT RULES AND REQUIREMENTS

Before beginning the import procedures, make sure that your vet is approved by the Government Veterinarian Authority in the country of origin. For example, if an animal is departing the United States, the vet will need to be USDA Accredited.

Requirements in Summary:

1. Microchip: Each Pet shall be identified by means of a microchip. No other form of identification is acceptable. The microchip used should comply with ISO Standard 11784 or Annex A to ISO standard 11785- otherwise the pet will need to be sent with it’s own scanner attached to the top of the crate.

2. All animals need to have Full Vaccinations:
Dogs: Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvo, Leptospirosis, (DHLPP) and Rabies within the last 12 months or a minimum of 4 weeks before arrival.
Cats: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia (FVRCP), and Rabies within the last 12 months or a minimum of 4 weeks before arrival.

3. EU Vet Health Certificate (Form EC#: 998) - (Form provided to you by PetRelocation.com): This is the standard Health Certificate to be filled out by your accredited Veterinarian. This certificate is valid for 4 months prior to departure date so do not get this issued too early.

6. All original documentation listed above must travel with the pets.

7. In order for us to successfully clear customs we will need the following documents supplied prior to the animal’s arrival:

• Copy of Pet Owner’s Passport
• Note from Pet Owner’s Employer for the Relocation

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

For animals originating in an EU Member State, the “pet passport”, can be used and comes in a booklet form, blue in color with the EU emblem of yellow stars. This passport is a document standardized throughout the EU.

In the case of animals originating in a qualifying country other than an EU Member State the “passport” is in the form of a “Veterinary Certificate”, must consist of a single sheet, be printed in the language of Member State of entry and in English and be completed in the language of the Member State of entry or English. North American vets write dates confusingly, sometimes in two different formats on the same document. The correct layout requested, and the ISO Standard, is dd/mm/yyyy.

Microchip Numbers must be read from the chip in the animal – and not from other paperwork. You must double check to make sure the chip can be scanned and that ALL NUMBERS of the microchip are recorded correctly.

Schumacher Cargo Logistics: Auto Transporting and Car Transporting

If you are moving overseas, either through personal choice or because your company wants you to work overseas, then you will need to plan your move very carefully. You will need an experienced overseas mover to pack and transport your belongings to the country that is your destination. Moving abroad can be very expensive and even if your company is picking up most of the bill it is still a good idea to get several quotes for your move abroad before you make a final decision.

When you move overseas you may decide to buy a new car or automobile when you reach your destination, but if, like many people you like the car that you have then you will need to find a professional car or auto transporter to ship your car overseas. Shipping a car or automobile to Europe can be quite expensive especially if you choose an enclosed sole use trailer so it is worth getting in a number of different quotes from the internet before settling on a company to transport your car abroad. Please contact one of our trained Schumacher Cargo shipping experts for further assistance.

In the United States all car shipping and auto transporting companies are required to carry insurance, so make sure that the transporter you use has the required insurance if you want to make sure that your vehicle has a safe journey. You should check with your transporter whether the insurance is included in their overall fee or whether that is an additional cost. You should always take care to check all the details, including insurance before you settle on a particular transporter. Again, our team can help you with any additional questions.

Auto shipping is a way to transport your car or your truck to an overseas destination. Just as you would use an overseas mover to move your other belongings so you should use an auto transporter to transport your car abroad. Your car will be shipped in a large trailer or truck that looks very much like a horse box. However, these trucks are specially constructed to safely transport cars overseas.

Please note that Schumacher Cargo and other professional auto transport companies have to be very careful when they are shipping their cargo. You should be aware that it can cost tens of thousands of dollars to ship a car overseas and this could make your overseas move extremely expensive. Very often car shipping companies will charge you for the weight of your vehicle, so if you have a large American car you could pay a lot more money than someone with a smaller vehicle.

Professional auto transporters will make a thorough check of all vehicles before they take them for transportation. If you want to be sure that your car will travel safely overseas then you should fully insure your shipment. As an increasing number of Americans are now moving to Europe it makes sense to acquaint yourself with overseas moving and the cost of shipping a car to your destination. Schumacher Cargo Logistics will also transport bikes and vans as well as cars while others may only take specific vehicles.

Automobile shipping quotes.

Auto shipping quotes are usually organized to include a moving to and from information, the contents to be moved, the type of shipping method, and insurance information.

Here at Schumacher Cargo Logistics, we follow up with our customers after they submit their online quote request via phone or email to answer any additional questions they might have.

One common mistake people make when selecting a company to ship their automobile overseas is to select the first shipping service they come across. It is possible to procure an excellent shipping service with this method however we recommend evaluating several companies. Take your time and do your due diligence.

Make sure you:

Understand your quote. – Ask questions if there is something you do not understand in your quote.

Be as accurate as possible. – Provide moving dates, locations, items, etc.

Ask for insurance.

Understand customs and regulations.

Compare apples to apples.

When you receive some quotes (usually delivered via email) it is important to make a detailed comparison between the two. Avoid looking at just the price quote. Again, terms and conditions are important and a higher price can come with a better deal that makes the higher price worth it.

Quotes are extremely important as far as making the right selection for your overseas car shipping company. They are easy to acquire and necessary to review. Contact us if you have any questions. Schumacher Cargo Logistics is dedicated to earning your business and helping you understand the process.

If you suddenly find yourself in a position of having to ship a car overseas you may be a little worried about the process and how much it is going to cost you. There are a few things that you are going to want to take into consideration. The size of the operating condition of the car, the size of the car, and your destination will be the biggest determining factors in how much the whole experience is going to cost you. You can probably already guess that this is going to be somewhat of a large expense for you. But if you are moving or going to be overseas for a long time, it is a good idea to bring your car with you. Overall, it is much cheaper then buying another car once you get to your destination.

One thing that you will want to consider is that international shipping of a car must be done from a special location. Cars can be transported by ship from anyone of the following places:

San Francisco, California

Los Angeles, California

Jacksonville, Florida

Miami, Florida

New York City, New York

Norfolk, Virginia

Charleston, South Carolina

Wilmington, Delaware

Baltimore, Maryland

For those who live near these shipping docks there is simply the matter of driving your car there yourself. But what if you do not live near any of these places? Will you have to turn getting your car there a separate road trip? Do not worry about it, as there are services available to help you out. The car owners who do not happen to live near these places can get assistance with the transportation of their car form their home to the shipping dock. The overseas transportation ships generally have contracts with local auto movers.

The amount that this is going to cost will vary depending on the distance between your home and the shipping dock. The smallest amount you could possibly look at paying would be one hundred dollars and the highest amount would probably be somewhere around nine hundred dollars. The higher end is generally for those people who live in a Midwest state. Since the vehicles are driven into a 7x7x19 foot long container, there will be fees associated for having to store larger or over sized vehicles.

You will also have to take into consideration shipping insurance to cover the value of your car. This could range around three hundred to five hundred dollars for a typical twenty thousand dollar car. Check with your auto insurance first before paying for any additional coverage. Your policy may in fact already have you covered for vehicle transport. There may be port of entry taxes if you are traveling to Europe so make sure that you are prepared for those as well.

If your vehicle does not work then you will be looking at an additional cost for the loading and unloading difficulties that would be created by that. All in all you could be looking at up to three thousand dollars for the international shipping of your vehicle. For an accurate and up-to-date International car shipping quote, contact the Schumacher Cargo Logistics sales team.

In part 2 of this blog post we want to look at a couple more things to keep in mind.

Have Your Drivers License Ready
The license you have currently will not be good enough. You have to make sure that you have an International Driver’s License. This can be obtained through the AAA Automobile Association. If you are traveling to Europe though, you will be glad to know that your American driver’s license will do just fine. You will also be glad to know that you can drive around with your American plates in the foreign country until they expire. Once your plates are expired you will be able to renew them with plates for the country you are in.

Must You Be Present For the Delivery of Your Vehicle?
If you are shipping by RORO then yes, you have to be there in order to get your car. There are of course situations where the vehicle owner is unable to personally be there. When this happens, you can have an authorized adult to act as your representative. This person will have the authority to accept the delivery of your car as long as the destination agent has the name of your representative on file.

Once you find that you are completely prepared for the shipping and the delivery of your vehicle, you can get the ball rolling. Just make sure that you have all of your facts straight so that there are no problems getting your car to its destination, or picking it up, and you will be fine.

PART 1: Being Prepared For The Delivery Of Your Car Through International Shipping

You have probably learned a lot about how to get your car set up and ready for transport but what have you learned about what happens once it reaches its destination? There are many things to take into consideration before you allow your car to be shipped. If you are not properly prepared you could very well find yourself in a good bit of trouble, or at least you will be slightly inconvenienced. In order to make sure that the entire process is a smooth one, you have to be prepared for what to expect once your car makes it to the country you are moving to.

Being Flexible
While it is okay to ask the company you are using when they expect to have the delivery of your car completed, it is important that you remain a little flexible. They will probably give you an estimate of three to fourteen days for your car to reach its destination. There are factors that may come in play though which would possibly delay the delivery of the car. Such factors are out of control of the shipping company such as weather and traffic so it is important to remember such things.

Import Taxes
It is important to make sure that you are ready not just for the import taxes but the import duties as well. Also, there will be doc fees and offloading fees. Because every country will have their own laws and fees that have to be paid, it is important to make contact with the embassy of the country you are shipping your car to. The embassy will be able to help you understand the fees and clarify any misunderstandings or concerns you may have.

In part two of this article we will look at a couple more useful tips.
